Soundproof double glazed windows in a quiet Perth home

Soundproof Windows

Silence the Outside World.

European double- and triple-glazed windows built with certified acoustic glass packages. Laminated acoustic glass, asymmetric panes and argon or krypton gas fill cut outside noise by up to 51 dB, up to 90% quieter inside.

Soundproof windows reduce outside noise using laminated acoustic glass, asymmetric pane thicknesses and argon or krypton gas fill inside a sealed double- or triple-glazed unit. WindowPlus acoustic glass packages are a certified special construction that can cut noise by up to 51 dB, a reduction of up to 90% in perceived loudness, ideal for Perth homes near busy roads, train lines, flight paths or schools.

Why Soundproof Windows

Peace and Quiet, Engineered In

Noise is a primary cause of sleep disturbance. Our certified acoustic glass packages restore calm by blocking the outside world at the window, the biggest and easiest source of noise to treat.

Certified Acoustic Glass

A certified special-construction glass package, independently rated for its sound-reduction performance (Rw rating), so you know the result before you order.

Up to 51 dB Quieter

Our acoustic packages reduce outside noise by up to 51 dB, a reduction of up to 90% in perceived loudness. A busy road becomes near-silence indoors.

Laminated Acoustic Glass

A special acoustic film (PVB interlayer) bonded between glass panes damps the vibrations that ordinary glass would otherwise transmit straight into your room.

Argon & Krypton Fill

The sealed cavity between panes is filled with dense argon or krypton gas. Heavier than air, it slows both sound and heat transfer, so you get quiet and energy efficiency together.

The Special Construction

How Our Acoustic Glass Packages Work

A soundproof window is a system. Four elements work together in every WindowPlus acoustic unit, and the whole package is certified for its combined performance.

1. Laminated Acoustic Glass

Two panes of glass are bonded with a thin acoustic PVB interlayer. This membrane absorbs sound vibrations that solid glass would otherwise pass straight through. Lamination also adds safety and security, the glass holds together if broken.

2. Asymmetric Pane Thicknesses

Every pane resonates at a certain pitch. By pairing panes of different thicknesses, each pane cancels the frequencies the other lets through, so the unit blocks a much wider range of noise, from deep traffic rumble to sharp aircraft and voices.

3. Argon or Krypton Gas Fill

The sealed void between panes is filled with an inert, low-conductivity gas, argon or krypton, that is denser than air. It slows the transmission of sound vibrations across the cavity, and at the same time keeps the inner glass close to room temperature for better energy efficiency.

4. Multi-Chamber Frame & Seals

The best glass fails if noise leaks around it. Our multi-chamber uPVC and thermally broken aluminium frames with continuous compression seals close every gap, so the whole window performs to its certified acoustic rating, not just the glass.

Certified Performance

A Certified Special-Construction Package

Acoustic glass is not a single product, it is a specification. Our special-construction acoustic units combine laminated acoustic glass, asymmetric panes, argon or krypton fill and a sealed multi-chamber frame, and the finished package carries a certified acoustic rating (Rw) for that exact configuration.

That means the quiet you are promised is measured, not marketing. We tell you the acoustic rating for the package quoted so you can match it to your noise source, whether that is a main road, a rail line or a flight path.

  • Certified acoustic (Rw) rating for the exact glass package
  • Special-construction laminated acoustic glass as standard
  • Argon or krypton gas fill for sound and thermal performance
  • Up to 51 dB reduction, up to 90% quieter inside

Who Benefits Most

Restore Peace Wherever Noise Steals It

Without enough sleep we are left irritable, stressed and sluggish. Soundproof windows help most where noise is constant or arrives at the worst times.

Busy Roads

Homes on main roads, highways and intersections with constant traffic rumble.

Train & Rail Lines

Properties near passenger or freight lines where trains run early and late.

Flight Paths

Suburbs under approach and departure paths where aircraft noise peaks sharply.

Schools & Parks

Living beside a school, sports ground or playground with daytime activity.

Shift Workers

Anyone sleeping during the day who needs a dark, quiet room out of step with the street.

Nurseries

Babies and young children who wake easily to sudden outside noise.

Entertainment Districts

Homes near bars, venues and nightlife where noise runs late into the night.

Neighbourhood Noise

Barking dogs, mowers, neighbours and general suburban background noise.

Glass Packages

Choose the Right Acoustic Package

We match the glass package to your noise source and budget, then confirm the certified acoustic rating before you order.

Standard Double Glazed

Everyday comfort

  • Two panes, sealed cavity with argon fill
  • Typical Rw 32–38 dB noise reduction
  • A big step up from any single-glazed window

FAQs

Soundproof window questions, answered

How do soundproof windows actually block noise?

Sound is vibration travelling through the air and through the glass itself. Our soundproof windows attack it three ways: laminated acoustic glass with a special interlayer that damps vibration, asymmetric pane thicknesses that break up sound resonance across different frequencies, and a sealed cavity filled with dense argon or krypton gas that slows sound transmission. The multi-chamber frame and compression seals stop noise leaking around the glass. Together this special-construction package can cut outside noise by up to 51 dB.

What does 'up to 51 dB' or '90% quieter' really mean?

Decibels are a logarithmic scale, so the numbers understate the effect. A reduction of around 10 dB is perceived as roughly half as loud. Our acoustic packages can reduce noise by up to 51 dB, which corresponds to a reduction of up to about 90% in perceived loudness, turning a busy main road into near-silence inside your home.

Are your acoustic glass packages certified?

Yes. Acoustic glass is independently rated for its sound-reduction performance (its Rw rating), and our special-construction acoustic units are built and specified to achieve the top acoustic tier for the glass package you choose. We provide the acoustic rating for the exact configuration quoted so you know the performance before you order.

What is laminated acoustic glass?

It is two panes of glass bonded together with a thin acoustic PVB (polyvinyl butyral) interlayer. That interlayer acts as a damping membrane, absorbing the sound vibrations the glass would otherwise transmit. It is the single biggest contributor to a window's acoustic performance and is standard in our soundproof packages.

Do I need double or triple glazing for soundproofing?

Double glazing with laminated acoustic glass handles most Perth homes near ordinary road noise. For homes under a flight path, beside a train line or in an entertainment district, acoustic triple glazing (two cavities, asymmetric panes, krypton fill) delivers the highest reduction, up to 51 dB, and doubles as passive-house-grade thermal insulation.

Do soundproof windows also improve energy efficiency?

Yes. The same construction that blocks sound, multiple panes, a sealed cavity and argon or krypton gas fill, also dramatically slows heat transfer. Our soundproof windows achieve excellent Uw-values at the same time, so you get a quieter and a more energy-efficient home from one upgrade.

Will soundproof windows block all noise completely?

No window makes a room perfectly silent, because some sound also travels through walls, roofs, doors and gaps. But upgrading to acoustic glazing removes the largest and most annoying source, the windows, and is the single most effective step for a dramatically quieter home. We can advise on the right package for your specific noise source.
